Goodbye california
I keep reading that everyone's leaving California.... but if you drive Interstate 5 you know that can't be true! Here's my response... recorded with the band at Kulak's Woodshed.
Angels Flight
"Angels Flight... Shine your beacon in the night..."
One morning I woke up with the words "We will ride tonight on Angels Flight". Angels Flight is a 100+ year old landmark in downtown Los Angeles, a very small funicular railroad that goes up Bunker Hill. I figured I must have had some kind of a dream so I imagined what it might have been about. Out of it came one of my favorite songs. It references a lot of LA landmarks and people and turned out to be about more than the little railroad.
I'm nearly done with the studio recording of this song which features a beautiful accordion part (yes!) played by Carl Byron and Spanish-style guitar by Ed Tree -- can't wait to share that with you. In the meantime, here's a live recording from last month at Club Passim in Cambridge Mass. Hope you enjoy it! And if you'd read this far, and haven't done so already, please "subscribe" to my YouTube channel -- this is very helpful to promote my videos within the YouTube framework. Thank you!
